In Summer of 2020, we did a Soccer Camp at Home with devotions and fun soccer drills kids can do at home by themselves. Check out the videos below to see what we did.
Worship Warm-Up:
Today’s Worship Warm-Up is “Hello.”
Drill 1:
In our first drill, Coach Caleb will work on toe touches and bell taps.
Team Time:
Today’s devotion is on Galatians 6:7. To access the lesson packet to do with your kids, click here.
Our memory verse is:
“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.” Galatians 6:7
Drill 2:
For the second drill, Coach Caleb will teach rollover dribbles and juggling.
The Daily Challenge:
Today’s daily challenge is: how many times can you juggle a soccer ball without it hitting the ground? Watch the second part of drill 2 for instructions on dribbling.
Tuesday Skill of the Day: Passing and Receiving
Worship Warm-Up:
Today’s Worship Warm-Up is “Trading My Sorrows.”
Drill 1:
Today’s drill will work on passing. If you don’t have a partner, you can use a wall (ask permission first) or any hard object you can kick a soccer ball against that will cause it to bounce back. Coach Faith will talk about passing technique, and then it’s your turn to practice.
Team Time:
Today’s devotion is on Galatians 6:8. To access the lesson packet to do with your kids, click here.
Our memory verse is:
“For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.” Galatians 6:8
Drill 2:
Now that we’ve done passing technique, it’s time to work on accuracy. Use two cones, shoes, or other objects at set them 3-6 feet apart, either against the wall or with your partner in between. Work on passing to the wall/partner between these cones.
The Daily Challenge:
Today’s daily challenge is: how many one-touch passes (passes without stopping the ball) can you do in a row? You can do this challenge with either a partner or a wall.
Wednesday Skill of the Day: Dribbling
Worship Warm-Up:
Today’s Worship Warm-Up is “Father Abraham.”
Drill 1:
Today Coach Michelle will give us some tips for dribbling. To set up the first drill, set up five objects (cones, shoes, bottles, rocks, etc.) in a line spaced a few feet apart. Dribble in and out of the cones with your right foot, left foot, and both feet.
You can move the cones closer together to make the drill more challenging, or spread them apart to make it easier.
Team Time:
Today’s devotion is on Galatians 6:9. To access the lesson packet to do with your kids, click here.
Our memory verse is:
“And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” Galatians 6:9
Drill 2:
Now Coach Michelle will teach shielding. To do this drill, set your cones (or other objects) up in a diamond. Dribble toward each cone, and when you get to that cone, shield the ball and then dribble to the next cone.
The Daily Challenge:
Today’s daily challenge is: how fast can you dribble through 5 cones/objects (from drill 1)?
Thursday Skill of the Day: Moves
Worship Warm-Up:
Today’s Worship Warm-Up is “The Ten Commandments.”
Drill 1:
In this video, Coach Heine is going to show three moves you can use to change directions while dribbling. All you need is space to dribble and a person or object to be your “defender.” The moves we will go over are:
- The Pullback
- The Outside Cut
- The Inside Cut (the “Cryuff”)
Some of these moves are tough, but don’t get discouraged! Keep practicing until you can get them.
Team Time:
Today’s devotion is on Galatians 6:10. To access the lesson packet to do with your kids, click here.
Our memory verse is:
“Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.” Galatians 6:10
Drill 2:
In this video, Coach Heine will go over 4 fakes that you can use to dribble past a defender. We will go over:
- The Lunge
- The Sweep/Step-Over
- The Scissors
- The Stop-Start
Again, these moves might be tricky, especially for younger kids, but try your best!
The Daily Challenge:
Today’s daily challenge is: show us your favorite move. It can be a move you learned today, one you already know, or even one you made up. Try it on your sibling, parent, dog, or teddy bear.
Friday Skills of the Day: Throw-Ins, Trapping, and First Touch
Worship Warm-Up:
Today’s Worship Warm-Up is “I’m Gonna Sing.”
Drill 1:
Our first drill works on throw-ins. There is an easy, medium, and advanced way to do this drill, so start where you’re comfortable and work your way up.
The simple throw-in starts at 1:43
The medium throw-in starts at 3:03
The advanced throw-in starts at 3:57
Team Time:
Today’s devotion is on Romans 10:9. To access the lesson packet to do with your kids, click here.
Our memory verse is:
“That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9
Drills 2 and 3:
In our second drill, Coach Justin will work on trapping. Some of these drills will be a lot like our passing drills earlier in the week, but the focus this time is on how we receive the ball when it comes to us. Try to keep the ball close and in front of you. For our third drill, Coach Justin will work on first touch, which is what we do with the ball when it comes to us.
The Daily Challenge:
Today’s daily challenge is: can you say all 5 memory verses (Galatians 6:7-10 and Romans 10:9) from this week?
